Launching a podcast is an exciting journey, and establishing an RSS feed is a critical step in making your show accessible on major platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

An RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed enables seamless distribution across multiple listening platforms, eliminating the need for manual uploads. When you update your feed with a new episode, all subscribed platforms automatically receive the latest content, ensuring your audience never misses an update.

If you're new to podcasting, Podcorn Hosting simplifies the process, making it easy to create and distribute your show. Follow this step-by-step guide to set up your podcast and RSS feed from scratch.

Step 1: Get Invited to Podcorn Hosting

Before you can create your podcast, you'll need an invitation to join Podcorn Hosting. Since you don’t have an existing podcast, we require some basic information about your show, such as the anticipated launch date, number of planned episodes, special guests, social media following, and other details that demonstrate your commitment and potential for success. You can apply [HERE] or email support@podcorn.com.

Step 2: Create a Podcorn Account

Once invited, you'll receive an email with a link to join. Click the link and follow the prompt to create a Podcorn account. Enter your podcast name and set a secure password.

Step 3: Begin the Podcaster Onboarding

You'll be asked to provide your name and basic details to personalize your account.

Step 4: Confirm You Are Creating a Podcast for the First Time

You'll be required to provide more information about your podcast. The box labeled "This is a new podcast I'm uploading for the first time." will be automatically checked. It’s essential to leave this checked, as it signals that you are setting up an RSS feed for the first time. This ensures you’re guided through the correct process.

Step 5: Set Your Episode Release Schedule

Indicate how frequently you plan to release new episodes. This information helps the sponsorship marketplace recommend available sponsorship opportunities aligned with your planned release dates.

Step 6: Configure Hosting Feed Settings

This step is crucial as the data you provide here will be distributed to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms. These settings define how your podcast appears to listeners across all platforms.

Required Information:

  • Podcast Title: The official name of your podcast, as it will appear on all platforms.

  • Podcast Description: A brief yet compelling summary that gives potential listeners an idea of what your podcast is about.

  • Explicit Content: Indicate whether your podcast contains explicit material (Apple and Spotify require this for content filtering).

  • Language: Specify the primary language of your podcast.

  • iTunes Primary Category: Choose a category that best represents your podcast for listing on platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

  • iTunes Secondary Category (optional): Select an additional category if applicable.

  • Website (optional): If you have an associated website or blog, include it here.

Step 7: You're All Set!

Your podcast setup is complete! You can now start uploading episodes, adding ad markers, and distributing your show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms.
