What is an RSS Feed and why does it matter?
An RSS feed is a crucial component for podcasters to distribute their content and for listeners to receive updates on new episodes. Podcorn utilizes an RSS feed to easily connect podcasters with potential advertisers and monetize their content, while also providing listeners with a simple and convenient way to stay up-to-date with their favorite podcasts.
How Podcorn uses RSS feed to verify users
RSS feed verification is a process where Podcorn confirms the authenticity and accuracy of a podcaster's RSS feed by adding an email address. This step ensures that the content being distributed is legitimate and belongs to the correct Podcorn user, helping to prevent fraud and maintain the platform's integrity. Additionally, verifying your RSS feed with the Analytics Prefix allows Podcorn to accurately track key metrics like downloads and listens, which are essential for attracting potential sponsors.
How does Podcorn verify RSS feeds?
Podcorn verifies RSS feeds by checking the feed associated with your account. A verification email will be sent to the email address listed in your feed, making the process quick and simple. However, the steps to add this email to your feed vary depending on your provider. Platforms like RSS.com, Buzzsprout, Podomatic, Libsyn, Anchor, and Podbean have articles on their sites explaining this process. In the following sections, we’ll guide you through adding your email to your RSS feed. If you didn’t have your email during onboarding, don’t worry—the notification in your dashboard will alert you if your feed is unverified and allow you to recheck once you've added your email.
How do you change your RSS feed?
To change your RSS feed, go to your Podcorn dashboard, click on Manage Podcasts, then select the pencil icon (edit button). In your podcast profile, choose Change RSS Feed.
Please note that this will restart the onboarding process to ensure you get verified with analytics connected.
