Podcasters paid through third-party services like Stripe or PayPal should expect to receive a 1099 tax form from the payment provider, not Podcorn. These providers have their own 1099 reporting rules. For example, PayPal typically sends 1099-K forms only if you earn over $20,000 and receive more than 200 payments in a year. If you don’t meet these criteria, you won’t receive a 1099 form from PayPal or any other third-party provider.
Podcorn issues 1099-NEC forms only to podcasters who are paid directly by us. In these cases, you would have sent us an invoice, provided a W9 form, and your 1099-NEC will be based on the information from your W9.
As an independent contractor or business owner, you are responsible for reporting all earned income to the IRS, regardless of whether you receive a 1099 form. Please consult a tax professional if you have any additional questions.
